College Hockey East walked away victorious from the 4th Annual CHE vs. Empire League Showdown with a final score of 27-9. The event was reduced to six games overall after Fairfield and withdrew and Pitt-Johnstown decided to step away from the event. The Empire league's only win was Farmingdale defeating RMU 6-3. CHE won all the remaining games and gained points from almost every period of play. California of PA-I had an impressive showing by winning both their games with no less than a five goal difference. Perhaps the game of the weekend was Fredonia defeating Albany 4-3 in a super tight game that went into OT.
Overall the weekend was played well and enjoyed by all. CHE would like to thank the staff of Center Ice Arena for hosting the event along with Scott Solomon and Jon LaRochester from the Empire league. We would also like to thank the players and coaches from the Albany, Farmingdale and Southern Connecticut teams for making the trip and enjoying the weekend!
The 5th Annual CHE vs. Empire League Showdown will move back to the state of New York next season and it will be hosted by the Empire League.
