This past weekend at the CHE Spring League meeting, the CHE membership granted full-time status to Fredonia State University and West Virginia University D-II. A few members from the FSU management team and Dean Lakios, GM of WVU D-II, were on hand to petition the membership. After discussion, the membership decided to place FSU in the North Division and WVU D-II in the South Division. That will once again make 10 teams competing in CHE for the 2008-09 season.
Both FSU and WVU D-II competed this past season under provisional status and both teams played very well. We are extremely happy to have these two standout programs in the league full-time and we look forward to them competing for the CHE Championship this coming season!
The University of Akron withdrew from CHE last week after being offered a spot in a new league comprised of Ohio and Michigan teams. We wish all the staff and players of Akron well as they are a team with tremendous potential! We wish all the best to Head Coach Joe Frato and his players in their new home! No doubt Akron will still be playing CHE teams throughout the upcoming season!
